![]() ![]() In my opinion, the enemies in Below Zero are generally more terrifying. Now, you may be wondering about the situation in Below Zero. Dealing with that creature was almost impossible, and you had to run away as soon as you saw it. One of the aspects I wanted to discuss in the comparison between Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero is the horror elements.Īs you know, in Subnautica, the depths of the ocean were particularly frightening, especially due to the presence of the Reaper. Especially the dialogue of the main character alone hinted at it. In Subnautica, one of the key factors that enhanced the sense of isolation was the inability to interact with any other human.įrom the moment I first entered Below Zero, I could tell that there would be this difference. In Subnautica: Below Zero, the sense of isolation is less prominent because you encounter other characters and engage in dialogues with them. This element creates extra tension and unease when exploring the dark areas of the game in Subnautica. Just imagine, you’re swimming in the ocean, building your base, trying to survive, and exploring, but there’s no chance of encountering another human. Even if you were in the middle of an ocean on Earth, you would feel incredibly isolated, but being in the ocean of a planet with no other humans intensifies that feeling of isolation. One of my favorite features of Subnautica is being completely isolated in the vast ocean of an alien planet like space survival games. However, if you prefer a more sandbox-style story, Subnautica might be the right choice for you. In short, if you want the game to provide you with a story and dialogue, Below Zero might be more suitable for you. Subnautica: Below Zero deprives you of this feeling. In Subnautica, the main character doesn’t have a defined personality, which, contrary to appearances, allows you to experience the game through your own personality. Somehow, the solitude and lack of dialogue in the game appealed to me.Īlthough the story flow in Subnautica: Below Zero is good, I feel that the general sense of isolation in Subnautica enhances the enjoyment of the game even more. In my opinion, Subnautica stands out from other games in this aspect. ![]() So, how does the presence of dialogues and more interactive elements in the story affect the game? You can think of it as an extra DLC pack to the first game. This is because the game is shorter in duration. This is due to the main character’s ability to speak.Īside from that, the depth of the story in Subnautica: Below Zero is relatively shallower compared to the first game. ![]() However, Below Zero feels a bit different because the main character is involved in the dialogue, instantly making you feel like you’re playing a story-driven game. If we compare these two games in this aspect, both have a story flow and a scenario. It allows me to emotionally connect with the game while trying to survive. I personally enjoy having dialogues in these types of survival games. The biggest difference between Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero lies in the story flow and dialogues in the two games. Let’s now compare these two games based on the given titles. SubnauticaĪnyway, the only way to determine whether the sensations these two games provide are the same or different is to examine the game based on the following features one by one. Now, are the overall sensations provided by these two games the same, or are they different in the second game? Because the survival sensation in the ocean in the first game offered a unique experience, didn’t it? It was something different from other survival games, being on another planet. Many features of the game have also been altered. Therefore, numerous additions and changes have been made to the game. If that were the case, releasing Below Zero would be quite pointless. So, is the only difference between the two games just the character? Are these two games almost identical? We embody Robin Ayou, who is a much more lively and vibrant character compared to the protagonist of the first game. ![]() However, this time we don’t play as the same character. Today, we will compare the best ocean survival games, Subnautica vs Subnautica: Below Zero.Īs you know, Below Zero takes place approximately 2 years after we left the planet in the first game which I’m talking about in my “ Is Subnautica Worth It?” article. ![]()
